Ready for the Fight – Reconnaissance
It is critical in any battle to know who and what you’re fighting against. As Christians, we will find it difficult if not impossible to fight effectively in our spiritual battle if we can’t identify our adversary or his attacks.
In Ephesians 6:12, Paul does a little reconnaissance for us to help prepare us for the fight. We will stand a much better chance in the battle if we know how our enemy fights – what are his tactics, what weapons does he use, who are his operatives, and how do they assault us?
Paul reveals 2 primary things in this passage – first he tells us that 1) The Spiritual Battle is Up Close & Personal – that is the nature of our fight. Then, with the majority of the verse, he explains that 2) We Fight a Powerful Spiritual Enemy, But God is Stronger.
We prepare ourselves for the battle by knowing our enemy and his tactics.
Ephesians 6:12

- Jan 4, 2026Ready for the Fight – Basic Training
Jan 4, 2026Ready for the Fight – Basic TrainingOur days on this earth will sometimes be a battle. Beyond our daily struggles, we also face a spiritual battle for our eternal souls. Satan and his forces want to do everything they can to keep people from coming to faith in Christ and living for Him. This is a fight that takes place primarily on the spiritual plane, and honestly, it’s one we’re largely unaware of.In the final chapter of Ephesians, Paul talks about the spiritual battle we face daily, and our need to be ready for the fight. The beginning of the year is a great time for us to be reminded that we need to be ready for the fight. In Eph. 6:10-11, Paul gives us the substance of our Basic Training: 1) The Lord is the Source of Our Strength; and 2) The Christian Must be Armed. We need to be strong, alert, and ready to stand our ground in the fight we are in.Ephesians 6:10-11Jan. 4, 2026To watch the video of this message, click here.
- Dec 28, 2025Do You See What I See?
Dec 28, 2025Do You See What I See?Series: ChristmasSometimes you have to know what you’re looking for to truly see what’s in front of you. I think this is especially the case with Jesus Christ. You have to know what you’re looking for to see Him for who He truly is.In our text this morning we meet one man who knew just what he was looking for, and he found it in the baby Jesus. To others, Jesus might have looked no different than any other baby, but to the trained eye, to the man who was waiting for God’s gift of a Messiah, He was a hidden treasure.Today, we’re going to look at another passage from the Christmas story, found in Luke 2:22-35. We’ll first consider: 1) What Others Saw, then we’ll look at 2) What Simeon Saw, finally, we’ll pause to ask 3) What We See.To see Jesus is to see salvation.Luke 2:22-35Dec. 28, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.

Dec 21, 2025Looking Back at the Future Hope of the PastSeries: ChristmasThe Jews were looking forward to, and eagerly anticipating, the arrival of God’s promised Messiah for several hundred years before He was born. That’s a long time to wait for such a wonderful gift. With this message we look back to some of the promises made by God, through the prophet Isaiah, before finishing up in the New Testament. There we see this hope fulfilled, and we are reminded to keep looking forward with hope to the Lord's return. Our hope for the future is well founded on God’s faithfulness in the past – God is with us!Isaiah 7:14 + 9:6-7Dec. 21, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.

Nov 30, 2025Supporting the Lord’s ServantsSeries: 1 TimothyWith the closing verses of 1 Timothy 5, Paul gives three related instructions for dealing with pastor/elders in the church: 1) Show Appreciation for Those Who Shepherd the Church; 2) Be Fair in Addressing Accusations & Sin in a Leader’s Life; and 3) Use Patience & Discernment in Deciding Who Will Lead the Church. A fourth, and seemingly unrelated instruction Paul gives seems to 4) Encourage Pastors to Pursue a Healthy Lifestyle. We are called to take care with those who care for the church.1 Timothy 5:17-25Nov. 30, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.

Nov 16, 2025A Caring CommunitySeries: 1 TimothyGod’s Church is to be a caring community. When we are living life the way God calls us to in His Word, we see this taking place constantly in real-time. Healthy churches not only minister to people’s spiritual needs, but to their physical needs as well.In 1 Timothy 5:1-16, Paul lays out God’s instructions to Timothy and the church, that they may be a caring community. The focus is predominately on widows, but the principles can be applied broadly: 1) Be Respectful of Others around You; 2) Show Compassion to Widows Who Demonstrate Christian Character; 3) Accept Appropriate Responsibility for Caring for Others; and 4) A Warning & Instruction for Younger Widows. We are called to show respect, compassion, and responsibility toward others in the church.1 Timothy 5:1-16Nov. 16, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.
- Nov 9, 2025Leading By Example
Nov 9, 2025Leading By ExampleSeries: 1 TimothyThe Apostle Paul appointed Timothy to serve as the pastor of the church in Ephesus prior to his departure. In 1 Timothy 4:11-16, Paul issues a series of commands to the young pastor, encouraging him to lead by example, and live in a way that demonstrates what a Christian life should look like.Although many of Paul's commands are particular to Timothy's calling as a pastor, there is still much that can be generally applied to the life of every believer: 1) Live Your Life as an Example to Others; 2) Serve with the Spiritual Gifts God has Given You; and 3) Focus on Progress over Perfection in Your Spiritual Growth.Set an example in spiritual life and service.1 Timothy 4:11-16Nov. 9, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.

Nov 2, 2025Good Habits for Growing ChristiansSeries: 1 TimothyChristian maturity doesn’t just happen to us passively. We need to actively pursue it. In order to grow as Christians, we would be wise to develop some good spiritual habits. Paul points out two things we can do to aid in spiritual growth in 1 Tim. 4:6-10. First, he encourages us to 1) Stay True to God’s Word – we need to focus on the truth, and at the same time identify the errors which stand against it. Secondly, Paul issues the call to 2) Train Yourself to be Godly – we need to develop and grow in personal holiness, striving for integrity in all we do.Spiritual growth requires spiritual exercise focused on spiritual truth.1 Timothy 4:6-10Nov. 2, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.

Oct 26, 2025Don’t Fall for False TeachingSeries: 1 TimothyChurch should be a place where we can be safe from false teaching. But, even here, we still need to be on our guard. Jesus, Paul, Peter, Jude and others in Scripture repeatedly warned that false teachers would arise, even in the church, who would deceive many.As we come to 1 Timothy 4 this morning, Paul warns the young pastor against false teachers, highlighting three 3 things for us: 1) False Teaching can be Spiritually Fatal; 2) Rejecting What God has Given Does Not Make Us Righteous; and 3) Be Grateful for The Good Things God has Created.False teaching pulls people away from God and denies the goodness of His creation.1 Timothy 4:1-5Oct. 26, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.
- Oct 19, 2025How to Behave at Home
Oct 19, 2025How to Behave at HomeSeries: 1 TimothyIn the three short verses at the end of 1 Timothy 3, Paul mentions his purpose in writing the letter – that we will know how to live in God’s church. He wants us to understand how we are to behave in the household of God.There are 3 points we can identify in these 3 verses. The first one could almost escape our notice, but is worth mentioning. Paul gives us the example of 1) Seeking God’s Direction in All You Decide to Do. From there he goes on to encourage all in the church to 2) Live a Life that Pleases the Lord. The final verse of the chapter is a short hymn of sorts that spells out basic truths about Christ. Here the apostle encourages believers to 3) Ground Yourself in the Truth of the Gospel.Christians should be known by their Godly behavior and Biblical beliefs about Christ.1 Timothy 3:14-16Oct. 19, 2025To watch the video of this message, click here.
