Some view the Bible as containing an outdated list of laws and requirements that just don’t fit with our modern world and its values today. What’s the point? Is it even relevant for people living in the 21st century? In a word, “Yes!” God’s Law and His commandments are absolutely relevant and have a point today as well, though it may not be the point most people assume.
In 1 Tim. 1:8-11, Paul highlights the lawful use of the law. He makes 3 points in these verses: 1) The Law is Good, But Doesn’t Get Us to God; 2) The Law Shows Us Shameful Specifics of Our Sin; and 3) The Sound Teaching of the Gospel Shows Us How to Be Saved.
The Law is good, but limited, so we need to ground ourselves in the Gospel.
