The Apostle Paul appointed Timothy to serve as the pastor of the church in Ephesus prior to his departure. In 1 Timothy 4:11-16, Paul issues a series of commands to the young pastor, encouraging him to lead by example, and live in a way that demonstrates what a Christian life should look like.
Although many of Paul’s commands are particular to Timothy’s calling as a pastor, there is still much that can be generally applied to the life of every believer: 1) Live Your Life as an Example to Others; 2) Serve with the Spiritual Gifts God has Given You; and 3) Focus on Progress over Perfection in Your Spiritual Growth.
Set an example in spiritual life and service.
