Paul opens Romans 13 by stating clearly that all of us are to be subject to governing authorities.  He goes on to give us the reasoning behind this command.  First, he explains that 1) All authority is from God. Next,  Paul tells us that 2) God places us under authority for our own good.  Finally, Paul shows us that 3) God asks for more than grudging recognition of governing authority.

 

Submission to human authority is a reflection of my submission to God.
